The Multilingualism and Cognitive Development Lab (MCDL) is a dynamic research hub dedicated to deciphering the complex interplay between linguistic diversity and the human mind. Based in Istanbul, our work investigates how the acquisition and use of multiple languages shape cognitive architecture, learning mechanisms, and developmental trajectories across the lifespan. In addition, we are interested in how social and educational experiences shape the development of multiple languages.

Utilizing a range of experimental methods—including eye-tracking and behavioral paradigms—we examine second language learning, heritage language development, language impairment, and the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that influence successful language outcomes.
